his face is perfectly fine, but he isn't exactly smiling back—he looks surprised to see her, then immediately remorseful, grimacing as she rushes over. he's... a mess. his left arm bandaged from shoulder to chest and completely immobilized, the rest of him wrapped up almost as much, black and blue all over. ]

(it's the fact that he seemed so well through text, bickering with her as he always does, that makes her all the more confused to see him like this, bedridden and in pain. her first reaction is to pat herself thoroughly, as if she was looking for something - and why would she have shimmer on her, anyway? it's not like she's been smuggling it like the good old days.
she sighs, clear concern in every inch of her face, before she very carefully sits on the edge of the bed, taking his cheek in her hand.)
[ his lips pull back a little as she sits down, but the grimace fades. his eyes have a little trouble focusing on her hand as it comes toward him, and considering how his reflexes normally are, it's a pretty good indicator of what sort of state he's in right now. a little woozy as he lifts his gaze from jinx's hand to her face. ]
It wasn't a person, it was a wyvern. It was after my dad, so I... y'know. Made sure it didn't get him.
[ frankly it's all kind of hazy, how it went down exactly. that's about the gist of all he remembers. he wasn't thinking, just acting. ]
